The Bible is the most wonderful book ever given to mankind.  It is the inspired word of God and is complete and adequate to meet all man’s spiritual needs.  The Bible is given by God to mankind in order to be an absolute standard of right and wrong.  The Bible is given by God to govern all walks of man’s life upon this earth.  The Bible is the best known, most widely read, the best loved and most influential of all the writings of men.  The Bible is a disclosure of truth, instruction concerning divine things especially those relating to Christian salvation given to man by God himself through the operation of the Holy Spirit.

The Word of God is the product of the Holy Spirit.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 says,     “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God… that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”   The entire Bible is given to man by the power of the Holy Spirit.  The Bible came from the mind of God; he gave it, it contains his thoughts, mind, will and wisdom.  The Holy Spirit is the one who was responsible for the revealing of the mind of God to man.  The apostles, prophets, and writers of the Bible claimed that they spoke and wrote under the guidance of the Holy Spirit in words supplied by the Spirit.

God’s revelation removes the covering (man’s limitations) and bridges the gap between human understanding and divine wisdom, and light up the darkness to show man what he is, where he came from, why he is here upon this earth, what his moral obligations are, and what his destiny will be after this life.  Without a revelation from God, man would be unable to answer these vital questions.  The gap between the infinite wisdom of God and the finite mind of man was bridged by the Holy Spirit, who made known "the things of God."  God has given man a perfect and complete guide to direct our steps while here upon this earth.

Inspiration is usually defined as a supernatural influence exerted on the sacred writers by the Holy Spirit, by virtue of which, their writings are given divine authority.  The writers of the Bible were directed in everything they wrote by the Holy Spirit.  But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:20-21).  The writers of the Bible did not give their private or personal opinions when they wrote the Bible.  The Holy Spirit directed every word they wrote in revealing God's will to man.  The Scriptures contain all God wanted to reveal to mankind and no more.
