What Is Your Life?
As the shadows close in on the evening of another year of our life, we take some time for contemplation. As we begin a new year, it is always good to reflect back on the year past and see if we need to make any changes in our lives. In this busy hustle-bustle of life it is good to pause frequently and soberly and ask ourselves, "What is the purpose of my life? Why am I here? What shall I do with my talents and abilities?
Life is a gift, a blessing from God; recognize its source and be grateful to him who makes it possible. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he Is Lord of heaven and earth...seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things" (Acts 17:24-25). Don't regard your life as a mistake or as an accident.
Life is a solemn responsibility; you must try to faithfully discharge your responsibility. "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man" (Eccl. 12:13). God who gave you your life has a right to tell us how to use our life here. Our time upon this earth is to prepare us for eternity. Don't make the mistake of wasting your life by doing as you please.
Life is a precious commodity; be conscious of its value and resolve not to waste it. "For what shall a man be profited if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?" (Matt. 16:26). Life is priceless; each moment is valuable; don't misuse or waste your time.
Our life should be an example for others to follow; make it an example that is absolutely safe to follow. "Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in manner of life, in love, in faith, in purity" (1 Tim. 4:12). We must be an example for others in all aspects of our life. We have no right to set a bad example for others.
Life is a great opportunity for good; diligently use each golden moment. "As we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men" (Gal. 6:10). We need to make a difference with our life. You can do so much with your life.
Life here upon the earth is brief and uncertain. "What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away" (James 4:14). Our life is like a puff of steam, it quickly vanishes away. Use each day of your life in the right way. Don't count on a long life, intending to serve God later.
Life is the seedtime of an eternal harvest. "For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil" (Eccl. 12:14). Use your life now to make your eternal destiny a happy one. Your destiny is in your hand.
We Want To Wish Each One A Happy New Year!
