Worry
Every day on the news you may hear about the bad economy that our country as well as the rest of the world is facing. You may hear co-workers talk about their struggles at home to make ends meet. Or, you may simply be experiencing tough times yourself, or know of someone close to you who is certainly facing tough times. All of these emotions around us can sometimes get us caught up in worry.
Although economically, times are not as prosperous as perhaps just five years ago, we can learn much from simply turning to God's word about worrying.
For example, we read in Matthew 6:25-27: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
Indeed, these are the words of wisdom. We also find in Psalm 46:1; “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Again in Psalm 55:22 we continue reading; “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.”
God does not want for us to worry. He makes it so clear in His word. If we turn to His word we can find rest in that God even takes care of the birds of the air which seem so insignificant in the realm of things.
We can also take a practical approach to God's word concerning worry. Have you ever asked yourself what you could go back in time and change through worry? How about what you could control tomorrow by worrying? Many people find that what they worry about has either occurred in the past or hasn't even occurred yet.
Take rest in knowing that God knows what is best for us. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6
