And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. -- Acts 11:26 (NKJV)
The Kettering Church of Christ was formed by a group of Christians who were
attending various congregations of the Lord's church within the Dayton area.
In the mid 1960's they saw a need for a congregation
to meet in Kettering, Ohio, to serve this neighborhood. The present building
at 4600 Bigger Road was completed and worship services were begun here in
1968.
The church in Kettering originally met at the SW corner
of Marshall and Stroop roads. A residence was purchased at the corner of
Woodman and Patricia Drive, and it was converted into a place for worship.
Before the renovation was completed, however, it was determined that the facility
was too small to meet the needs of the Kettering congregation. At that time,
land was purchased on Bigger Road to build a facility for the Kettering
church. The facility was designed to meet the needs of the church for worship
and various study programs. This location remains as the current facility
of the church today even though it has gone through several construction
and remodeling projects.
The members of the Kettering Church are a friendly, caring group of people who
are genuinely interested in the saving of souls. Our goal is to bring people to
the Lord and to encourage them to dedicate their lives to serving God. Our teaching
is based strictly on the Bible. We have no human creeds. We believe that we must
speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent.
