Family Devotional Time
FAMILY DEVOTIONAL TIME
Text: Deuteronomy 6.6-9: “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Teaching: We live in a busy society. It seems with each passing generation, the demands become greater. Not only do adults find themselves covered with pressing and urgent responsibilities, our teenagers often have just as an aggressive schedule with school and other activities. Despite the demands of our busy lives, family devotional time is essential for healthy family and spiritual life. Is your family committed to spending time together in prayer and the study of God’s word?
- Take inventory of your life. Are there activities that need to be cut out in order to better focus on the spiritual?
- Gather your family together today and spend time praying for one another. Think of specific situations in each other’s life where prayer is needed and take it to God.
- Have your family identify three spiritual goals and make plans on how to accomplish this together.
