Prayer and Temptation

Day 9

Text: Luke 22.31-32: “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

Teaching: Satan is our worst enemy. Here, Peter finds out that he is a target of Satan’s test. Jesus tells Peter that He will pray for him to stand fast in his faith and exhorts Peter to repent and encourage his fellow disciples afterwards.

Action Today:  How many times have you found yourself in Peter’s position?

  • Briefly list some decisions you have made to cope with temptation.
  • Resolve to always seek God’s help during times of temptation.
  • If you have failed, view it as an opportunity to become stronger and more faithful than before.
  • Ask a close friend or companion in Christ to pray for you.
