“A Year of Opportunity”
With today being the last day of the year, your mind may be in the mode of reflection. Another year has passed, a new one filled with opportunity and blessing is straight ahead. During 2012, we want to encourage you to spend the time God blesses you with wisely. Dedicate your life to spiritual service. Don’t let the mistakes of the past hold you back - seize the moment now to make positive changes in your life that draw you closer to God.
As 2011 closes, the Christians who make up the Kettering Church of Christ can look back at a year full of God’s blessing. Our spiritual family has grown closer together in the image of Christ. We had several people begin and others renew their relationship with God. New families have come our way. We expanded our worship facility and increased our presence online - reaching thousands here in the Dayton area and people around the world. We appreciate the large audience of this column over the last few years in the Dayton Daily News. We have been encouraged by your postive feedback and for those who have visited our services, we hope you were made to feel welcome.
And now as 2012 begins, we want to let you know of a few changes. As part of our updated vision plan for this year we want to refocus the efforts we have been using in evangelism. Effective today, we will no longer be running weekly articles in this space. While this article will no longer appear in the newspaper, you can still access uplifting spiritual articles and timely biblical messages on our congregational website at www.ketteringchurch.com.
Our vision plan is based upon Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5.16: Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. As we let our light shine this year, all of our Bible classes, special sermon series, and daily devotionals will revolve around this theme. For 2012, we have classes to help us understand darkness and the sin that entangles us. We will focus on our spiritual walk with God and learn how to illuminate the light of Christ helping others see God's wonderful salvation.
We will continue to use our website as a tool to reach out to the Dayton Community. You can use the website to view our Vision 2012 plan, our classes, our schedule and other spiritually based resources. We're sure you will find them of great interest and a source of help.
